High Altitude Trekking
Throughout the world, the regions above ‘tree-line’ and around the ‘snow-line’ have been the most popular trekking destinations. Above the heat and dust, close to high mountains, snow and glaciers, these areas lie beyond human habitation. An amazing vista of himalayan bugyals (alps or pasturelands), rivers, streams and waterfalls, medicinal herbs, plants and flowers, opens before the eyes. Gaurding the paradise landscape are rugged high Himalaya with their glaciers, rock and ice.
Time of the year
Choosing the correct time of the year for high altitude trek is important. Most areas above the ‘snow-line’ are snow bound till the spring and early summer. Bracing the summer climate (May-June) and clear autumn views (Oct-Nov) are the advantages of two universally accepted trekking periods in Himalayas i.e. May-June and mid Sep to end-Nov.For energetic, there are activities including treks in the winters and during monsoons.
